Sanjo City is located near the heart of Niigata prefecture, and is famously known around Japan for its prodution of small metal-goods. Japan's longest river, the Shinano River flows by Sanjo, along with the Ikarashi River which provides a rich agricultural farm belt. The city is very accessible with the Sanjo-Tsubame Expressway Inter-Change and a Shinkansen-line (bullet train) stop at Tsubame-Sanjo station nearby the city.
