Approximately 14kms upstream along the Sumon river from Yagigahana, this area was settled by fleeing members of the Minamoto clan and people lived here for approximately 800 years. After the settlement disappeared, mountain villas were built, but were soon abandoned and now the region is only visited by the occasional hiker as the starting point to Mt. Banya-zan, natural ponds and Mt. Sumon-dake.
