Recommended Winter Route

Last Update:2008/4/1

Spend your cold winters outdoors and/or indoors around the region of Yagigahana.

1. Swan Stopover site

Swan Stopover site - Every winter, swans return to the Ikarashi river to survive the cooler months. These migrating swans are very popular for children, especially for how the swans playfully feed on the food given to them.

2. Morohashi Tetsuji Museum

Morohashi Tetsuji Museum - Dr. Morohashi's museum is at times known as the giant star of sinology. If you are a pupil of "Kanji" (Chinese characters used in Japanese writing), there are plenty of interesting Kanji facts that might make you think "Oh wow!". Plenty of people whom enjoy kanji usually get quite involved in the "Kanji quiz" game the museum offers. Also, weird gifts such as "Kanji playing cards" are also on sale at the museum.

3. Yagigahana Onsen "Iiyuratei"

Yagigahana Onsen "Iiyuratei" - One of the joys of winter is to spend quality time soaking and warming yourself at an onsen (hot spring)! What more could you ask for, when soaked in a hot outdoor spring, while enjoying a scenic winter wonderland. A restaurant and resting area is also provided at this onsen, so one can spend an entire day simply relaxing. Also, if you visit the onsen after 17:00, there is even a slight discount with the entrance fee.

Other options!

If you've come all this way, why not spend the night at a local ryokan (japanese inn) while enjoying the winter landscape near Yagigahana?

Ryokan (Japanese inn) listings available here. (Japanese language only)
