Residential Tax (住民税/Jyumin-zei)

Residential Tax is levied by the local municipal office upon taxpayers residing in Sanjo as of January 1. Taxes are calculated on the basis of the previous year's earnings; therefore, even if you have left or quit your job, you are still required to pay the tax. A notification is sent regarding the total amount of city and prefecture taxes due.

Method of payment is either by direct deduction from one's salary or by submitting the tax notification form to the bank, etc., and paying the due amount.
