Solar Eclipse Observation Monument

 The first scientific observation of a solar eclipse in Japan took place on the summit of Yohmeiji-yama (which is currently within Osaki-yama Park) on August 19th, 1887.

 To commemorate the successful observation, a monument was contructed the following year.

Where: Osakiyama Park, 1574 Yanagisawa, Sanjo
Access: Bus:  From Higashi-Sanjo station, take the "八木ヶ鼻温泉" (Yagigahana Onsen) bus to "西大崎" (Nishi-Osaki) approximately a 15min bus ride. A 30min walk from the the stop.
Vehicle:  Approximately a 20min drive from the Sanjo-Tsubame Inter-Change (Hokuriku Expressway).
