HOME > How to use Japanse end-cut pliers (Kuikiri)
Kuikiris are generally made to be used to cut soft wires (including nails). If tough wires (such as piano wire) are required to be cut, select proper specialized cutters.

Reference: Sizes range form 105mm to 240mm. Depending on the material which is to be cut, please use appropriate size. *Most pliers are made with SC55 stainless steel.
Warning! Enma Nail Removers are not Kuikiris
The teeth (cutting edge) of Kuikiris are built to cut metal wires. If you are having some difficulty, do not twist, knead or use force. The following shows examples of correct and incorrect methods of using a Kuikiri.
Incorrect use
You may be required to pinch the wires near the edge of the blades. But be warned that the blade may chip if used in such a manner.
Correct use
Use the center of the blade as much as possible.
Incorrect use
Do not insert the metal wire deep into the Kuikiri so that the end of the metal wire touches the inside of the Kuikiri. The wire may get caught within the pivot and also damage the teeth (blade edge) of the Kuikiri.
Correct use
Allow some space between the end of the wire and the inside of the Kuikiri. Avoid jamming the wire into the Kuikiri.
Japanese End-cutter pliers (Kuikiri) are made from steel, but once finished using the tool, it is still recommended that one wipe the kuikiri with an oiled cloth before storing. When the kuikiri is to be store for a long period of time, it is recommended that the pivot pin be oiled as well.
