Sanjo Heritage Museum

City museum of history, folklore and industry

The best place to experience and learn the history and culture of Sanjo City. Begin your tour from the Tumulus period (ancient times when a large pile of earth is built over the grave of an important person) by discovering excavated articles from the Sannoh-yama mounded tomb, and other various valuable cultural assets and work of art.

A recreation of an Edo period Japanese blacksmith shop is also on display. The memorial room exhibits various works of art by the honorary citizen, master artist Masami Iwata and photographer Yoshioshi Watanabe.

Take a brief step away from everyday life, and slip back into the history of Sanjo.
