Education, kindergarten and schools
Compulsory education in Japan is 6 years of elementary school and 3 years of junior high school. There are also day care centers and kindergartens for younger children. Like many other Asian countries, Japan's school years starts on the 1st of April of each year.
In total, there is 1 municipal kindergarten, 24 elementary schools, and 9 junior high schools in Sanjo.

To enroll, please visit the Sanjo City Board of Education. There is 1 public kindergarten and 7 private kindergartens in Sanjo.

Elementary Schools
Every year, children are monitored to see if they will reach the age of 6 by April 1st of the following year. If so, a letter of school enrollment is sent to the guardians in mid-October so that their children can enroll in school in the following semester. Please have your child go to the designated school as notified to get a health checkup before enrollment. If your child does not receive this letter, please contact the Sanjo Board of Education.
