Higashi-Betsuin Temple - The 16th chief priest of Higashi-Honganji Temple, Ichinyo built this temple in 1690 for the purpose of settling a dispute on the doctrine. The main street in front of Higashi-Betsuin Temple is called "Honji-kouji" which is the downtown core of Sanjo, with plenty of bars and restaurants.
Every november the Otorikoshi & Garden Plant Fair takes place within the temple grounds, with many many events held with garden plants and stalls covering the area.

Honjoji Temple - Built by Nichiin Shonin in 1297. Within the large temple grounds, there are seven beautiful facilites such as the bell tower, Senbutsudo (Hall of a thousand Buddhas) and the main hall to view. Every year on February 2nd, the ever popular Ogre Dance & Bean Throwing Ceremony takes place at this temple.
Ikarashi Shrine - If you wish to quickly learn about Sanjo's history, this facility is the place to be. Displays of cultural treasures and art from the olden days to the present

Yagi Shrine - Originally the Yagi shrine was located on the summit of Yagigahana. The current shrine which lies by the foot of Yagigahana was built in 1658. Surrounded by trees, this shrine has been a landmark for the local villagers.
Every August, the Rainmaking Giant Snake Procession receives its Shinto purification at this temple.
Not exactly a historical building, but the Ootani Dam & Kasaboriko Dam are also an interesting sight to see.
