Boshin War Memorial

 In 1868, there was a fierce battle between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Imperial faction where there were many casualties.

 Kichijiro Saigo the brother of Takamori Saigo, a prominent leader of the Imperial faction was killed in action during this battle.

Where: Downstream river-left, Tajima Bridge, Magari-Fuchi, Sanjo
Access: Train:  20min walk from Higashi-Sanjo station on the JR Shinetsu-line.
Vehicle:  Approximately a 15min drive from the Sanjo-Tsubame Inter-Change (Hokuriku Expressway).
